Relative to gold the U.S. Dollar has lost over 98% of it's value since President Nixon took us off the gold standard in 1971.

The Federal Reserve, a private consortium of banks, maintains a goal of achieving a 2% monetary inflation rate for eternity. Usually far exceeding that goal.

The U.S. is renowned for banning countries from using its Swift financial system as a quick form of punishment. Half of the world's economy is joining into the BRIC's monetary system in order to have an alternative method of monetary exchange just in case. The dollar is losing its hegemony status.

As the world's hegemony, we can print money as we wish in order to cover our reckless debt levels. That debt costs us $1,3000,000,000,000.00 ($1.3 trillion dollars a year in interest rate expenses), more than the military budget (who have never passed an audit).

In 1971 Henry Kissinger made a deal with Saudi Arabia. In exchange for our protection you will price your oil in U.S. dollars, creating "The Petrol Dollar" and securing the dollar as the world's hegemony.
This September, The United States has been unable to protect the Saudi's during our war with Iran. The Saudi's are seeking outside help from China. Our ability to print $$$ at will could be gone at any time, devastating our financial system.

It would be wise to at least temporarily to sell dollars by buying things of lasting value: Precious metals, property, art, rare items and maybe even that 1968 Plymouth Challenger fixer upper you've been looking at for some time now.

The "One Big Party's" reckless spending has given us over $40 Trillion in debt and a yearly interest payment of $1.3 Trillion. More than the military budget (who has never passed an audit). $1.3 trillion paid to other countries, and the FED. Breathtaking!
